Alright, we had the discussion on designer jeans.. some felt it was worth the money, others didn't. But what about sunglasses? Do you think higher priced sunglasses are worth the money?

I've had 2 pair of cheap $20 sunglasses break in the past 2 weeks. One of the, the lens' cracked because of the heat, lol, and the others, the lens popped out because the frames bent a little.

What are your thoughts? Do you get what you pay for with sunglasses?

For the record, I'm thinking about picking up a nice pair of Ray-bans finally.

I have a pair of Bolle's that I wear around. I'm about to go on a fishing trip in Louisiana and I'll be buying a pair of crappy ones for that trip.

Why are you buying Sunglasses? Don't you get free Police appointed pairs?

One word of advise as a cop...don't ever buy nice sunglasses. I had a sweet pair of Oakleys (they give some discount to LEO) and lost them in a foot pursuit. I was so upset I spent an hour looking for them. I'm still waiting to see some punk walk by with them on.

My new thing is Walgreens sunglass spinner. I can get a decent pair for $15. If they break or are lost...oh well.

Well, I wouldn't wear them out if I get in to the KSP... but I'm just talking about to wear out and about. I just ordered my first pair of Ray-Bans... first pair of sunglasses over $20...

I got nice Oakley Half Jackets... I love them.

A word of advce for all you guys trying to save money The thing with cheap sunglasses is they dont have strong UV coating. Basically this will be the death of your eyes when you get older. When you dont have suinglasses on and youre looking into bright light... your eyes automatically squint not to just reduce the amount of light.. but it also protects your corneas from UV rays. When you have cheap sunglasses with bad UV protection... your eyes dont need to squint because the light isnt as bright coming in.. but the same UV rays do come in... and without you squinting to protect your eyes.. the UV rays go directly into your eyes without any protection.

So spend the extra couple bucks to make sure theyre legit UV protected.
