Possibly moving to Seattle

I might be moving to Seattle in January for school and was wondering what all there is to do there and what the board members of the Emerald City recommend and suggest

Thanks

Well I'm not from there and I've never been there but I hear that people in Seattle drink a lot of coffee. Also, the city has the highest depression and suicide rates in America because of all of the rain. Sorry

Re: Possibly moving to Seattle

I'm out here for a summer internship and I normally live in Iowa, here are my thoughts.

-Music scene is solid.
-It doesn't rain that much, NYC actually has more annual rainfall. It's just cloudy 250+ days out of the year. It does get kind of depressing.
-It's a decent city, but I'm not in love with it.
-If you like Outdoorsy stuff, there is tons to do here.
-The traffic generally sucks going in and out of Seattle because there are 2 chokepoints (2 2 bridges).
-The transit system is alright, but leaves a lot to be desired.
-The cost of living is quite high, higher than many parts of California (that's food, fuel, and home costs).

I'm probably going to come out here full-time for a few years, but the place isn't somewhere I love and isn't in my long-term plans.

Just my thoughts.

Learn to make the best of the short but often perfect weather the summers have to offer because once those first clouds and rain roll in in October/November you won't see the sun until the end of May or so. Such is life in the Northwest, but Seattle is a wonderful town and a great place to live.

Just be thankful you aren't moving to Spokane.

Re: Possibly moving to Seattle

Have never been there, but it's always been on top of my list for the cities I'd like to move to. Mostly because the scenery does look great, and it's more liberal city which would suit me fine.
