Don't send him after me because of my Van Persie FK's, Altimus.

Thanks!

I think you are missing the point. I won't get all animal rightsy on you, its just that breeders breed for money in most cases. There are so many dogs that need rescued from shelters is ridiculous. Anyway, that is what he is trying to convey.

In some cases, maybe , but I'm not talking about getting a dog from a guy selling dogs on the side of the road in the back of his truck, or puppy mills. Now granted I have no problem with pound dogs, 3 of our other dogs have come from there, but IMO I wouldn't get one unless its a puppy. I've seen and heard of way too many people getting an older dog from a pound that either had severe health problems later on or had developmental/behavioral issues and end up spending hundreds of dollars on getting it corrected.

Yeah, I've never heard of problems like that. Sounds like breeder myths spread so people pay them $1000 for a dog.

Every pound or rescue dog I've ever had has been a great dog. Mutts especially are more even tempered and calmer. Plus they're fixed when you ge them most of the time. Looking at the dogs parents and grandparents is really not gonna tell you anything - dogs don't remember, dogs don't inherit temperament. It is all on how the owner trains it.

Not to mention that most purebreeds are going to have a terrible health problem when they get older. The one dude posted about yorkshire terriers, here are some of the problems they get:

Don't get that with a mutt from the pound.

I hope ours (and my future ones) don't have any issues like that.

I hope so too, but that is what happens when dogs have been bred together for so long.
