Unless you couldn't see it until you were right on top of it, you should be able to stop before hitting a stopped car (seems it was speed, not visibility, that caused the motorcycle not to stop in time, the wife driving the car stopped).

But regardless she shouldn't face charges so severe, if at all. What she did was irresponsible, but not criminally negligent.

Based on the other stories it sounds like the motorcycle was following too closely behind a car that was successfully able to swerve out of the way of the parked vehicle and didn't even have a chance to see the parked car.

There is definately time to stop even for a parked vehicle if you can see it in enough time.

A few months ago I was driving on the highway. The guy in front of me I guess had both of his brake lights out, sop needless to say I had no idea he had started slowing down until I was right on top of him and had to slam on my brakes. It is not safe at all. Check your lights people!
