Northern bay area fires in California have left a crazy visual where I live on the western bay area.





Leaving a grocery store yesterday evening I was greeted to a red sun (note: not exaggerating... the sun in the picture above is obviously yellow, while the one yesterday was red as red comes). Seeing that I could stare right at it, it was more impressive than the recent eclipse. It's like I was on Krypton. Everyone was snapping photos. I wish I had taken one.

As a photograph, the image itself is stunningly beautiful; hell, it even pleasantly smells like I'm back in Grass Valley. The reasons for which are extremely tragic.

We'll see if the air is equally as smoggy tonight. It certainly smells like it. At school we are "sheltered in place," trying to stay in doors as often as possible. They're also distributing those masks to people as well if they want one.

Heh, I know what you mean.

Anyway, with all of what is going on here I was wondering if widescale closures and evacuations were needed for us, since SDSU closed down back in 2007 during the SoCal wildfires. But after mapping it out, the ones in SD weren't even 10 miles away from me, whereas these are 40 miles from my home and 55 miles from my work.

Nevertheless, it's amazing how far this all can reach and affect people. All outside activities are canceled, including the homecoming football game.

The Raiders game will still possibly be played in Oakland. Somebody joked that if the UNLV home field was available, they should head there this Sunday and give Las Vegas NFL fans a preview of their team-to-be.
