Ummm, yeah, where about are you thinking? I've lived my entire life in Rochester and spent the past 4 years in Syracuse. I know the areas in between pretty decently.

So yeah, if you wanna message me some specifics or anything, I might be able to lend a hand.

Also, if you do move up here, and you like wine, I highly recommend the wine tours in the Finger Lakes. I just went back in August and it was a ton of fun.
Even beer beer tours too, there is a wonderful amount of microbrews in that area.

I personally love the area, going on a wine or beer tour is just loads of fun. Absolutly beautiful in the summer.

PM me if you need any advice moving to the area.

Work would be in Waterloo, if all goes well. Ideally I'm looking to stay within a 30 minute drive, if possible. I'd like a bit of a city/downtown-ish vibe too, as I'd be coming from 100k-ish person city.

So far, Geneva seems like the closest match to what I'm picturing, since both Rochester and Syracuse seem a bit further drive than I'd like. Canandaigua, Seneca Falls, and Auburn were the other places that looked like possibilities.

I am very familiar with that area, I personally would go with Seneca falls. It has a nice Main Street and some good restaurants, it is smaller than Geneva but it's nicer. Geneva has some nice areas but the city as a whole doesn't do much for me. The good news is that housing prices in that area are pretty low, lots of farmers markets, and the Amish live around there so you can get some good pastries. They are also building a Casino in that area so that could provide some entertainment if your into gambling.

Waterloo is also kinda dumpy, right off route 5&20 is the largest landfill I have ever seen. It does have a nice little outlet mall though. Don't bother with Auburn, that place is just depressing. If you can afford it and don't mind the drive, Canaduaga is the best of the bunch. It's also pretty close to Rochester so you can get your Big City fill there.

Yup. Cusefan has this one covered perfectly.

What would you guys suggest for a single guy in his mid-twenties? Honestly, I'd say my main priority is that there's a decent amount of people my own age around, since I'd be heading out there alone. Would Canandaigua still probably be the best bet? Geneva stuck out to me because of HWS, as I figured that would mean the average age was a bit lower.

I would suspect that you're probably right that Geneva is younger on average, so that probably makes a lot of sense if that's a priority. It's also not too far of a drive if you want to go to Syracuse games and stuff. Probably a little under an hour drive or so
