I used to love to read the manuals after I got a new game, always a favorite of mine. When I was first married(going on 22 years now) my wife would always drive home after I got a new game so I could read the game manual.

If you didn’t complete your Tecmo Super Bowl season in one day (ahh, the freedom of childhood) you were seriously risking losing it all.

Once we had an ice storm so there was no school so I ended up at my uncle and aunt's house for the day (they lived right across the street) and my cousins and I spent the entire day doing just that.

The worst experience I've had with cartridge data loss was Ken Griffey JR baseball on SNES. My mom didn't have internet but my dad did, so I spent my internet time at his house matching stats from the fictional players and pairing them with the real players from 93 or 94, not totally sure. Took a couple months of going back n forth between moms place and dad's. Ended up using a dot matrix printer to get papers of stats to match up just so I could input the names of the real players. Played the game for a week and the file erased itself
