YEAR 6 AWARDS 2019-2020

Year 6 - 2019-2020

SEC Player of the Year -
KEVIN JONES (Auburn)
>>>> Jones was the single most dominant player in the country at any position. Playing both inside and outside linebacker, Jones finished with 91 solo tackles, 27 TFL, 7 sacks, 8 interceptions, and 2 tds (led the country in ints and tds). His stats wete impressive but it was his play in the biggest games of the year that won him this award and led Auburn to a second title.

>>>> Runner Up was Georgia HB Charles Beverly. The leading rusher in the country had 2296 yards and 23 tds. Beverly stepped up and took all the pressure off of the QB situation getting the Bulldogs to the SEC Championship.

SEC Coach of the Year
GUS MALZAHN (Auburn)
>>>> Malzahn wins his second consecutive COY Award after winning his second consecutive National Championship. Malzahn is at the top of the college world right now.

>>>> Runner up was Alabama HC Hogan who had the biggest turn around from last year to this year getting double digit wins with Alabama and a top 10 finish, which is also the Crimson Tide's best season since the start of Rivals.
__________________________
SEC Team of the Year
AUBURN TIGERS
>>>> Auburn didn't play their usual uptempo high scoring brand of football this season so statistically it appears that they took a step backwards, including the fact that they trailed in the first half for most of their big games this year, but the defense proved to be the best on the field and they defended their National Championship in the toughest conference in football. In their last 6 games (5 against top 10 opponents) no team scored a touchdown in the second half.

>>>> Runner Up was the Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia had another dominant year and proved to be an premier program. In 2 out of the last 3 years Georgia's only losses of the season came at the hands of the eventual champions (SC and Auburn). Georgia controlled every game this season but lost the lead late to Auburn twice in the 4th quarter or they would have been playing in the BCS Championship.
