Georgia Tech @ #14 Georgia
Clean Old Fashioned Hate Rivalry
Georgia Tech came to Athens holding an abysmal 1-10 record and 0-9 record in the ACC, but records mean nothing in a real rivalry. They came out swinging out of the gates and never let up on either side of the ball.
14-0 lead came with ease in the first qtr as it looked like UGA might get blown out. We had no answer defensively but the offense had plenty of opportunities because of all the big plays GT was getting. After a 15 play td drive GT scored again and made it 21-7. UGA would put together another long scoring drive as Swift got in the endzone for a second time. The Bulldogs finally got a stop and answered with another td to tie the game at the half.
The goal in the second half was to find some way to limit the big plays by GT and Georgia finally came up with a scheme that got a couple of stops but couldnt keep Georgia out of the endzone. Fromm threw a td pass to tie the game at 28 but GT got another TD and took the lead again. UGA would answer one more time with a 5 minute 17 play drive that included 2 4th and 1 conversions. With 4 minutes left GT started on their drive with score at 35-35, but UGA came up with the stop on an all out blitz on 3rd and 2. After a punt with 3 minutes left Georgia would go grind mode with Cook and White after Swift tweeked his ankle. UGA would kick the game winning fg with no time on the clock.
