Re: MLB Slugfest

I found out that there is no difference between "Trainee" and All-star difficulty levels - I still lose 25-10 either way!

Please help!

Re: MLB Slugfest

the difference in difficulty settings seems slight, but i think i can still tell the difference. the cpu seems more agressive. anyway, more tips, you run faster when you have control of the guy , instead of letting the cpu track down the ball for you, so use the switch player button on the tough plays. Also, you know that you can direct the pitch to 9 positions when pitching right ? (1 suggestions:try maybe throwing some of the tuffer pitches high, then followed by something low and away. / inside ) and that using turbo makes the pitches even tuffer to hit. also you can speed up / slow down the pitch i believe and alter it some after you throw it, i think. you can change pitchers as well, if you dont like the pitch selection or he seems to be doing poorly.
also you can queue up throws before you catch it or after you have thrown the ball to another base you can you can set it to already throw to the next base you want to by making those controller movements before the ball gets there.
turbo is essential, dont be afriad to use it to try to get the batter at first, usually you can.
also, when batting you can swing high , med, or low. that helps you get more direct contact.

what else? hmm.. diving catches are very helpful. once you have those down your defense will be real solid. switch to the guy closest to the ball and wait till ball is about as close as youll get to it by running then dive. also, even if the ball is going to hit the ground, diving can get you over to it so it wont pass you buy and the runner wont get extra bases.

when base running hold down the slide button on the close plays and use turbo as much as you can.

any specific other questions ?

Re: MLB Slugfest

Tell me there is a create-a-team or create-a-player... I have only played 1 full game on the X-Box and could not find a create option.

Are you kidding me? I cannot believe the company that made NHL Hitz with create-a-player and create-a-team didn't add it to MLB Slugfest.

The game is OK, I really need to learn defense and it might be fun multi-player game.

Re: MLB Slugfest

there isnt a create a player or create a team option in slugfes that i can find. It isn't billed as a sim game, so there probably isnt. Maybe it will be in the '04 version. Stilla great game w/o them. but it would be a welcome addition for next versions (hint hint)
