New to OS, but old school 2K player thinking of going to Live....

This is one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make over a damn video game! LOL. I think that I am going to rent BOTH games tomorrow and play them throughout the week and this weekend I should have enough on both games to make a sound decision as to what game to pick up.

OS expanding its market has its downfalls, and your reply is a perfect example why.

I compare it to music.. it seems sometimes people hate every artist that isn't their favorite, instead in this case its like the 2k fans just bash Live without giving it a fair chance anddd the Live fans bash 2k without giving it a fair chance. both games have their ups and downs, this is videogames people.. the absolute PERFECT b-ball game that makes everyone 100% happy will NEVER come out. meanwhile lets enjoy what we have.

Yeah, being a former 2k fanboy, I find it especially hard to understand how people can prefer their game this year, but I guess people just value different things in their b-ball games.

I mean lets be honest, even if everybody gave both games an equal chance, a lot of people would still buy 2k. After all, NBA Live has sold well for years, hasn't it? I find that equally hard to understand.

Regarding the gameplay, Live has always seemed clunkier while 2K was smoother. Now it's the other way around.

I just got home so sorry it took me so long to respond to this. I'm a 39 year old gamer, I'm nobody's fanboy and I don't own any goggles. I made a decision based on what is the best, most consistent title for my 60(or in this rare case, 100)dollars. Live has improved, I'm far from hating on it.However, even from the demo and watching videos, you can tell there is alot of things still missing or in need of fleshing out.

As I said elsewhere, I respect anyone who switches to Live this year and I'm sure I'll get it down the road on sale as a companion/change of pace to 2k. I do not feel the need to knock anyone for going to Live from day one and you should give serious thought to doing to same for us 2k players.

I've owned every 2K since...2K. This morning, I had every intention of buying Live based on my research on these forums. When I got to the register, I lost my nerve and went for the familiarity of 2K. Although I play enough video B-ball, I still consider myself mid-level at best, as far as basketball knowledge and gaming skill.

For me, 2K was probably the right choice. I love the graphics and presentation. I even love the easy alley-oops for now (I will slider-them-out when the season actually starts).

I plan on renting Live for a more thorough eval than I got from the demo. I did the same thing last year, and was very tempted to purchase, but lost the final household vote.

I have to say I'm pleased that the decision is as difficult as it was today. That represents a good day for ALL gamers!
