Flag Football Interference

Okay I got a question that I cannot find anywhere on the net and thought some of you might know. I coach and play flag football for my squadron in the AF. Well last season there was this one team who would always bump the receiver within the 5 yard zone which is fine.

Now is it fine if they are bumping the WR when the ball is in the air towards the receiver within the 5 yards?

The refs last year said that it was legal to do since it was within 5 yards, well I told them yes but if the ball is in the air then it should be interference, long story short I didnt get the call.

BTW we are playing with the USFTL rules.

i play in tournaments all over the east coast from new york to florida and most honor the USFTL rules. i think that USFTL rules allow you to bump the wr all the way down field until the ball is in the air, and within 5 yards of the LOS regardless of the ball being in the air. hope that helps.

i know that the league we play in does not allow bumping after 5. but thanks for the reply.
