For those editing names in Tecmo (glitch)

Ok, ran some tests. I'll try to describe this as best I can.

1) I changed the names of the reserve DBs (Sam and Mike as test names) for the Bills. I then saved and exited.

2) I went into season mode and checked out the team data screen. Sam and Mike were there.

3) I then went to Indy to correct the DBs there, as they were still incorrect. They became Stan and Kyle. I saved and exited.

4) I went back into season mode and checked out the Bills again. Sam and Mike were gone, changed back into Kenneth Davis and Al Edwards.

5) I went to Indy and Stan and Kyle were there.

So I think it's pretty obvious what is happening at this point. Every new save is overwriting the other, messing up the names. So for correctly named Team Area players, you need to do your naming in one fell swoop, or name everything else ignoring the extra DBs until you can get all of them done in one sitting. Then don't edit and save ever again.

If you are editing in on the XBox 360, don't worry about capitalization of the names. I checked the save file and it has all the first names in lower case, and the last names in upper case. So just enter 'em either way and you'll be good.

so the verdict is to plug in all the names but leave the last two DB slots alone the entire time. THEN, when all the names are done, in ONE effort, fix all the db names and then save all the rosters for good (when that's the last thing to be done)...

is this the way to fix this?

(this is turning into a chore... i've worked on nba 2k8 rosters and mlb 2k10 rosters - i must admit i'm about burnt out on editing names...LOL!!).

It's the only answer I've come up with. I have yet to do it due to extra hours at work (you are are some kind of roster superhero mkharsh, I barely have the energy to play a game, let alone do the tedious work of naming and editing players) but after my tests I think it is a sound solution. And perhaps the only one.

I completed all the rosters in 2 days. I don't know if I should be proud or embarassed

no more embarrassed than the rest of us who do this stuff...

actually, i only feel a bit odd when my wife walks in and stares at me and i have all my "resources" open on my computer. she just stands there, smirk on her face, shaking her head. i tell her to not even say it...

Dont be it took me a week today to edit them, but in all it took me 5 total days. I didnt put in the offensive lineman though, i dont feel the need since you cant see there names anywhere anyways and how often do you see there name on the field of play?
