Just too many games, whether other football games, other sports games or other non-sports games, competing for gaming dollars and attention these days.

Hopefully a lot of the online features are copied by others in the future, including things like 4-player/4-console online support, ability to play any franchise game online, the inter-game communications.

Man if the developers cherry-pick the best online features from all these games, like ESPN's online leagues, the GD exclusive features, we'll really have something else.
