Re: Our NFL Blitz Pro Review
Good Review.
I was really looking forward to Blitz Pro. I have always been a fan of Tecmo Bowl on the NES, and its great combination of realism/fun. I have adapted to the modern games, but I sometimes loss patience with the idle time like waiting for lineman to lumber to the line of scrimmage, and the CPU taking forever to hike the ball.
A November release combined with a lack luster debut diminished my interest. Here we are in March when I finally got around to renting it.
I still think there is potential for an Arcade/Sim hybrid. A modern day Tecmo, but this just isn't it. Somehow NHL Hitz pulled this off pretty well.
I like the quick transition from play calling to being ready to snap the ball, but you can't bypass the post play sequences. This really drags out the game which is one of the main things I am trying to avoid with Blitz.
Graphics are far behind the competition.
Brent was much more forgiving of the announcing. Yeah, I know it is not a sim, but the jokes are just stupid. I can't imagine listening to them over and over.
I'll give this game a look next year, but this years is so far behind the competition in so many ways, I really couldn't recommend it to anyone.
