for those looking for a realistic experience

My friends and I played Madden 08 for 4 years. We modded the game completely, including brand new plays and playbooks for both the CPU and human controlled teams trying to get a more challenging and realistic experience. It was a waste of time. The games feel so scripted, the comeback code and the unstoppable long pass thrown by the CPU quarterback whenever they are behind in the scoreboard... The game is so predictable it wasn't fun anymore.

We decided to go back to Madden 04, and yes, first you miss some of those features that were included later on in the series, but when you've been playing for a while, the game is just amazing. Every game feels different. These are some of the reasons why, in our opinion, Madden 04 is much better than any other version:

- No comeback code
- No robo quarterback
- No receivers jumping superhigh to catch the ball
- The CPU cornebacks actually play bump and run on your receivers
- Punts and Kickoff returns for TD's.
- No easy sacks by your OLB off the right tackle side
- More realistic sim stats
- And again, the game doesn't feel scripted, every game is different

I agree, wish we had some updated rosters for 04

We've always played with custom teams and players so that's not a problem for us. The external playbook editor works pretty well, so the only thing we really miss is the ability to edit the graphics. I wish there was a texmod utility for Madden 04.

The main reason Madden 04 was their Best game was other football games out-2k and others.. EA HAD to make a Good game. Since then its all downhill.. Yes the Grafics are VERY Nice, but onfield game isnt real..
I have never been a fan of 08, 07 was much better as the WR's didnt do a SUPER jump and catch as they did in 08.. 04 also has Muscle Mikes GREAT Old teams, for the PC.. I just with I could make playbooks and use them in CPu vs CPU for the PC... But still 04 is Very realistic.
