Quote:
Originating in 1957, the PNC Big 33 Football Classic is one of the nation's finest scholastic All-Star Football Games highlighting Pennsylvania and Ohio's outstanding high school athletes. Now approaching its 47th anniversary, the Classic is aptly described as "The Super Bowl of High School Football." The rivalry continues in 2004 with the PA leading the series six games to five.
Many players are recruited by Division I colleges and universities and go on to professional careers in the NFL. Big 33 Alumni include: Tony Dorsett, Matt Millen, Joe Montana, Joe Namath, John Cappelletti, Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, to name a few. Current NFL stars include: Kerry Collins, Kyle Brady, Orlando Pace, Ricky Watters, Antonio Freeman, Ed McCaffrey, Marvin Harrison, Sean Gilbert and many more.
The Big 33 promotes quality coaching and works closely with the Pennsylvania (PSFCA) and Ohio Scholastic Football Coaches Associations (OSFCA). Coaches make a difference both on and off the field having a major influence on our youth. 1957 Big 33 alumni and 1997 Honorary Chairman, Herb Adderley, is an excellent example. He credits his high school football coach for much of the success he attained at Michigan State University, Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys and the business world.
"Much more that just a football game" The PNC Big 33 Football Classic promotes excellence in students and the community by involving players, cheerleaders, All-Star band members, buddies, host families and scholarship winners in a host of activities during Game Week.
