NHL Hitz Pro

Gotta say I just put back in Hitz Pro (the one with Lidstrom on it) in the old, scratched up Xbox (which has never broke compared to me having to "bake" my 360 to fix it from time to time) and it's a pretty great hockey game...too bad you can't tweak the sliders a little more and there's not a deeper franchise mode. I like the 5 on 5 and it's less arcadey than Hitz Pro.

But it's a very fun game and Midway's graphics still hold up today..I had been playing a little ESPN 2K5 but think this game is more enjoyable now.

Re: NHL Hitz Pro

Oh wow, I just looked up for newer NHL Hitz games because I loved the old NHL Hitz 2002. A friend and I were just naming games we loved playing and he brought up NHL Hitz 2002 and I remember great memories with that game. It's probably the most fun I ever had with a video game. I found out NHL Hitz Pro is the newest version, and found it 4 bucks at gamestop. I'm wondering is NHL Hitz Pro any good?

Re: NHL Hitz Pro

I think Hitz Pro it's a blast--I got a copy for $3.99...I actually like the 5 on 5 action although a lot of Hitz Pro people complained...

I liked the old NHL Hitz games too..."Pierre Turgeon is on FIRE!!!!!!!"

Sure it's very arcadey, but HITZ Pro looks great, plays smooth, and with the right sliders, you can get sort of close to a simulation...

Still play Hitz 20-03 with my friends and I'm not much of a hockey guy. It's a whole lot of fun.

Re: NHL Hitz Pro

I remember the old hockey board (that got closed down and now the Breakaway.net is in it's place) where the guys that developed that game (Next Level) would come and chat about the game.
Heck, they were even in an online league with some of the members of that forum.

Anyway, the guys from Next Level were talking like they were trying to make the next Hitz game to play more like a sim. But then Midway cancelled that deal.

Hitz Pro had some awesome sim qualities to it and when tweaked right it was my favorite game for that year.

So that makes 3 hockey series' that were on the cusp of greatness but got derailed for various reasons:

1. 2K3 - Treyarch was removed and Kush took over.
2. Fox Champ 2000 - canceled
3. Hitz Pro - canceled.

I know. I was so geeked when I picked up 2K4 and threw it in my Xbox.

My denial was very strong because it took me 30 minutes to realize the game sucked. HARD. I already knew it 5 minutes in, but I didn't want to believe it.

People want to talk about how the new star wars trilogy decimated the original three. But what Kush did to 2K3 was 10x as bad.

When the news got announced that Kush was taking over the 2K series I sent them an email warning them that they better not 'f this up'. I got a response saying something like "if you don't buy our game, you'll be missing out". If only.

I can only fathom how terrific this series would be today if Treyarch was still in charge.

Re: NHL Hitz Pro

Don't even get me started, man. Hitz Pro is one of the best hockey games ever made - my friends and I pop it in from time to time and have a blast - sliders can make the game as sim or as arcadey as a user wants, which is GREAT. Truly some of the most fun that I've had with a hockey game in my life, lightyears better than 20-02 and 20-03 IMHO.
