Ilicevic Eyes Return Leg in Hamburg

After a scoreless draw in England, LM Ivo Ilicevic is looking forward to Newcastle's second leg in the Europa League Quarterfinal against his old club, Hamburg. Ilicevic was frustrated with his last few months at the German club, believing he was unfairly pushed to the bench, and then out the door. "Oh, no question I was treated like (censored)," Ilicevic told a group of reporters before the trip to Germany. "I played my heart out for that team for four seasons, and I do not appreciate how it ended. Trust me, if I score, my celebration will not be one you will forget."

As usual, there are also the rumors of certain players wanting out of Newcastle. The first is RB Danny Simpson. There have been rumors that Simpson is unhappy with his contract, and may push his way out this summer. This would not be all that surprising, since Simpson is third string behind RB Martin Kelly and RB Ryan Taylor. Word is that Manager Alan Shearer is trying to work things out with Simpson, who may be able to be talked into staying with the club. Expect this soap opera to continue long into the summer.

The other player making noise is ST Cameron Jerome. Jerome has been the team's leading scorer this season with 19 goals, but is still not an automatic first team selection. When ST Demba Ba is fit, Shearer is more likely to go with Ba over Jerome. Jerome recently told the media, "I love my team and I love my teammates, but how can you not pick the player on your team that has scored the most goals? What more do I need to do to secure playing time? Come on!" Jerome's falling out with Shearer will likely lead to the departure of one or the other this summer, with Jerome the obvious candidate to go.

I thought I had a pretty easy draw with Hamburg, but they played really well. I've always struggled in PKs in FIFA games so I was pleasantly surprised when I won convincingly.

Can't seem to get rid of the German teams. Schalke is next.
