Note: This is the same premise as the Chesterfield dynasty I was starting. After playing through a few games I realized it would take me about 8 seasons to become competitive, if I was lucky. I wanted to take a route that had a little more opportunity to play in the EPL in the next few years. Hope everybody enjoys.

Match-Fixing Scandal Leads to Ownership Change at Nottingham Forest F.C.
June 24th, 2013

The most recent development in the match-fixing scandal at Nottingham Forest F.C. has led to some changes in upper management just two weeks after the story broke here on Operation Sports.

The most recent information provided accuses owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi and manager Billy Davies of fixing matches by conspiring with key members of the club.

With the possibility looming of the club being permanently removed from the league or relegated, Al-Hasawi jumped at the opportunity to sell the organization to American businessman Kevin Wagner.

Wagner, who owns a sporting goods franchise across the United States, took little time to start making moves. During a press conference earlier today, he announced the dismissal of Billy Davies and the hiring of new manager Mike Mill.

“I grew up a huge fan of football. I’ve always been disappointed in the lack of interest across the United States. The MLS is a great league, but I hope to expand interest for Americans beyond the states. I have far too much respect for the game to accept what transpired here at Nottingham. So, effective immediately, Billy Davies will no longer be the manager of the club. Taking his place will be former player, scout, and a good friend of mine, Mike Mill.”

Mill was a midfielder for the L.A. Galaxy for four years before moving on to become a scot for the team. He also held positions as a scout for the New York Red Bulls, Udinese and Tottenham.

“Mike is currently on a plane with his family to the Nottingham City Airport. We have already discussed in great lengths the direction in which we intend to take this club.”

We expect to hear more in the coming days when Wagner and Mill begin to make roster moves for the upcoming season.

Re: Nottingham Forest FC: Building An American Legacy (FIFA 14)

Nottingham Forest Brings in Talent from United States
July 9th, 2013

New manager Mike Mill and owner Kevin Wagner at Nottingham Forest F.C. have wasted little time to make moves during the summer transfer window.

Earlier this morning the club announced the release of four players from the squad, all who were involved with the match-fixing scandal.

Forwards Simon Cox and Rafik Djebbour along with midfielders David Vaughn and Henri Lansbury have been dismissed from the club.

“We don’t feel there is any room for activity like that in the sport,” Mill stated when asked about the transactions. “If other teams are willing to subject themselves to that, it’s their choice. We won’t stand for it here at Nottingham.”

Along with the four releases, the club also announced four signings; the last of which was finalized yesterday evening.

It’s clear that the new management is taking an approach that, at least initially, will focus heavily on scouting around the United States.

The club has brought in American midfielder Josh Gatt from Molde FK. The team also brought in talent from around the MLS. Right back DeAndre Yedlin, defensive midfielder Perry Kitchen and goalkeeper Sean Johnson were all signed, per this mornings press release.

“We want to bring in an interest from the American community. Currently, allegiance is split pretty heavily across the European clubs from the American fanbase. We’d like to give them a little incentive to follow us. Hopefully we can become a competitive club and really draw some interest.”

The signings will cost owner Kevin Wagner and the team roughly 7.5 million dollars. Although it's not out of the realm of possibilities, it's likely these will be the only moves the club makes before cup play begins.

Mill did hint at the fact that the organization currently has scouts remaining in the United States. It's unclear whether they are looking to bring in other talent across the MLS, or if the team is looking to bring in unsigned talent currently across the country.
