Defeat Plucky Greuther Fürth In DFB-Pokal Tie

Greuther Fürth GK Wolfgang Hesl earned man of the match despite the loss

It's never easy with this club. FC Schalke and 2. Bundesliga side Greuther Fürth needed a penalty kick shootout on Tuesday to settle their round two DFB-Pokal tie, and Di Matteo's men converted all four of their spot kicks while GK Christian Wetklo came up with two huge stops to earn the hosts a 1-1(4-1p) victory and a place in the 3rd round come Christmas Eve.

Losing late on after fighting off with 10 men for basically the whole match is a horrible break and hopefully doesn't kill morale.

Quality performances in the Champions League have kept you fighting on though, hopefully you can finish top of the group and escape the Reals and Barcelonas that plague Schalke IRL in the Round of 16.
Yeah, three red cards, not good, and not something that I usually do either. The Matip red was an out an out error, I kind of wanted a professional foul, slow him down kind of but I hit the slide tackle by accident. As for the game, I Was spent afterwords, pissed off at myself, and rather disgusted. Then right after I go into the Cup game and well, you'll see. Like I Said below, nothing comes easy for this club.

Scoring Summary

Schalke Struggle Through 1-0 Victory Over Augsburg

Jefferson Farfán provides Schalke's lone bit of magic

Beset by injuries, inconsistent form, and a relentless fixture list, Roberto Di Matteo's Schalke side overcame all of that and more as they scratched and clawed their way to a 1-0 victory over an increasingly desperate FC Augsburg side on the strength of a 43rd minute goal from Jefferson Farfán, his first of the campaign.
For Schalke, the win is their first home league win of the campaign, and their fourth in the league overall as they improve their record to a rather pedestrian 4-3-3 on 15 points, level with both Hoffenheim and Wolfsburg smack dab in the middle of the table.
For Augsburg the situation is much more dire, as they now reside in a disappointing 17th place at 1-3-6.

First Half Blitz Seals Victory For Schalke

RB Atsuto Uchida reacts to an early miss

Despite being without an out an out striker, FC Schalke turned in another impressive road performance, defeating SC Freiburg by the score of 3-1 here at Schwarzwald Stadion.
Back footed for most of the first half, Schalke exploded to life midway through the stanza, getting goals from Kevin Prince Boateng, Max Meyer, and Boateng again during a hellacious fifteen minute span which saw them build up a stunning 3-0 halftime lead.
Following the break, the hosts struck quickly, pulling one back on a spectacular strike from Admir Mehmedi to make it 3-1, unfortunately though for the home side they would get no closer, eventually falling by that same 3-1 scoreline.
