Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

A week after the big win over Cardiff City, QPR host Ipswich Town back at Loftus road. Che Adams was cleared medically to play and will be starting up top in Wolter's 4-1-4-1. The defense will be the same for QPR as it was last match with Luongo as the CDM. Mackie gets the start on the left with Onomah, Mason and Adegbenro starting in midfield.

0' Kickoff The home side are in their blue and white while Ipswich town are wearing the dark red kits coming out in a 4-2-3-1.
6' Save QPR start off quick with a 1-2 between Mason and Luongo but Biatkowski is there to make a diving save and out for a corner.
36' SaveNot a lot of chances so far in the match as Ipswich's first chance comes towards the end of the first half with McGoldrick turning inside the box and takes a shot to the right corner but Smithies pushes it over the bar.
45'+3 HalftimeThe half ends 0-0 with only a few shots on each side as both defenses showed up tonight.
46' injury And it's another injury for QPR as Jamie Mackie is subbed off with a knee injury. Not looking good for the attackers of QPR.
53' GOAL - McGoldrickAgainst the run of play it's Ipswich that score first and take a 1 goal lead. McGoldrick has been the only attacking threat for the away side all game and he finally broke through with a header lobbed over Smithies. 0-1.
71' GOAL - MasonAnd QPR are back in it! A match that was looking to have no excitement is starting to liven up as Ryan Mason slides his shot under a charging keeper to make it 1-1 with a quarter of an hour left. 1-1.
74' Miss McGoldrick was inches away from adding his second of the match coming off a corner by Ipswich that he heads just over the bar.
88' Foul QPR's Kaja commits an aggressive foul in a dangerous spot as Ipswich now have a chance to steal the 3pts. But the free kick hits the wall and is cleared away by Lynch.
90+2' Full-timeQPR threw everything they could at the end to take a win but could not beat Biatkowski on the night, taking a draw at home. 1-1.

Max Wolters post-match

Reporter: "It looked like you would come back for the win tonight but just fell short, how disappointing is that?"
Wolters: "It's very frustrating obviously, I thought we were the better side especially in the last 20 minutes but we couldn't finish. It happens."
Reporter: "Sitting in 12th place after the first month of the season, what needs to improve?"
Wolters: "We need to be more consistent. It's still early to look at the table but we need to start stringing together wins and not as many draws."

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

QPR look to make it 3 in a row without defeat as they welcome Millwall to Loftus Road. Wolters made 4 changes to his starting 11 after the draw against Ipswich. Smithies is in goal with Kakay, Onuoha, Lynch and Garmston as the back line. Wszolek is on the right with Ngbakato on the left. Mason, Maddison and Luongo in the middle with Da silva Lopes up top.

0' Kickoff Light rain coming down in London tonight to make for some slippery conditions on the pitch. QPR are in the blue and white shirts while Millwall wear the dark blue top.
10' Miss. QPR have been happy to let Millwall control possession to start the match as they play for the counter. Mason recovers the clearance from Lynch and sends a long ball up to Ngbakato who tries to chip Archer but his shot goes over the bar.
26' GOAL - Luongo
This time it's Millwall who try playing on defense as they sit 7 men in the letting the home side pass the ball around. Ryan Mason makes a run to the touchline and sends a low ball across the six yard box that takes a deflection right to the right foot of Luongo who gladly taps it in. 1-0
32' GOAL - Maddison (assist Luongo)
James Maddison opens his account for his new club with a beautiful chip shot perfectly executed. A lazy pass by Millwall results in a fast counter opportunity for QPR, Luongo plays it through to Maddison who chips the keeper just inside the box.
Half time. It's been all the home side tonight as QPR have had the share of scoring chances with Millwall only having two shots in the first 45 minutes. AS it stands, QPR will be cruising to an easy three points.
54' Save. Archer comes up with a big save to keep his side in the match as Luongo chases down a long ball just outside the six yard box but his shot is right into the path of Archer.
65' Miss. The pace of the match has slowed down as QPR are happy to see the result out with a two goal lead. Finding some room outside the box Ryan Mason takes a chance at goal but a diving Archer pushes the shot out for a corner.
85' Save. Another save by Archer who has had a great game despite the two goals allowed. This time he denies Wzsolek of a scoring chance.
Full Time. A straightforward win for QPR tonight as Smithies was rarely tested and the defense never hard to reach top gear to keep Millwall at bay. Next match will be a more difficult task as QPR travel to Middlesborough who sit right above them in the table.

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

The London side have won 4 in a row to move up to 8th in the table as they host struggling Burton Albion. Max Wolter is continuing to have to deal with injuries throughout his backline with an injured LB, RB, CB and CM. Today’s changes show QPR back to a 5-3-2 with Ingram in goal for the injured Smithies, Ssewankambo and Garmston as the wingbacks, Baptiste, Onuoha and Aidoo the three centre backs behind Luongo, Da Silva Lopes and Josh Onomah in midfield and a front two of Sylla and Adams up top.

0’ Da Silva Lopes kicks us off on a perfect, warm evening.
9’ OFF THE POST. QPR almost had a dream start with LB Garmston sending a cross into the middle of the box where Da Silva Lopes performed a perfect bicycle kick but his shot was just high as it hit the post and bounced right on the goal line before being cleared away.

10’ PENALTY! The home side continue their attack as the crowd starts to come alive feeling a goal is imminent. Che Adams scooted past the Burton defender and was pulled down from behind awarding his side a penalty.
11’ MISS. Adams steps up to take his penalty from the spot, keeper dove right as Adams went left but his shot hit the post and was cleared away for a corner. Big missed chance for the R’s.
30’ QPR have dominated possession and the majority of chances the first half hour. Burton had one shot but missed the target as QPR have started to push forward.
39’ GOAL QPR. J. Aidoo (assisted by Da Silva Lopes)
With their fourth corner of the half QPR finally break through. The young CB brought the ball down off his chest and made a quick move to tap the ball past a diving keeper to give QPR their goal they have worked so hard for.
44’ GOAL QPR. I. Sylla
Backbreaking for Burton as they have played well this first half and don’t deserve to be down 2 going into the break. The struggling side have defended for the majority of the half, only having 33% of the possession but they have had key counterattack chances.

52’ MISS. Da Silva Lopes has been all over the pitch this match, completely controlling the midfield. Finding space outside the box he let a rare shot attempt from distance go but saw his shot go inches wide of the post.
90’ SAVE. It’s been a long day for Bywater and the Burton defenders but the keeper isn’t giving up yet. Making a diving save to his left to keep his side down 2-0 with only minutes remaining.
90+2’ Full Time. It was a very professional match from QPR as they completely controlled every part of the match. Holding 63% of possession, outshooting Burton 17-1 and holding the away side to only 73% pass accuracy.

“We deserved the three points. Everything we did tonight worked for us and on any other night we would have scored four or five goals. Burton defended well and made it difficult at times for us. Winning five in a row is something we can all be proud of tonight.”

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

Stlducks History against
Record: 1-1-0 GD 4
Stlducks has only played Barnsley twice and won the first meeting while drawing the second. Outscoring Barnsley 5-1.

Pre-Match
QPR look to make it six straight wins as they travel to Barnsley. Wolters made seven changes to his starting lineup from the match three days ago. Ingram is still in goal as Smithies recovers from an ankle injury. Furlong and Garmston are lined up as the wingbacks with a trio of Aidoo, Onuoha and Lynch between them. The midfield is very young with Da Silva Lopes, Kaja and Luongo. Mackie is on the right side up top with Adegbenro starting on the left.

0’ Williams starts us off for the home side as they look to bounce back from back to back defeats.
8’ SAVE. It was almost a fast start for Barnsley as Bradshaw heads down a cross into the path of Mahoney. The winger fires a low shot but Ingram is there to make a diving save.

18’ SAVE. This time it’s the Barnsley keeper making a big save as Adegbenro heads a shot in from six yards out but right into the hands of the keeper.
45’ MISS. Big chance right before the half as Bradshaw goes up for a headed chance but his shot goes wide of the post. Could have been a big moment for the home side as QPR have dominated the half but Barnsley had a chance to take the lead.
71’ SAVE. The second half has been dull for the first half hour but Garmston almost broke the deadlock with a shot from outside the box on the left wing. His attempt takes a bounce in front of Davies but the keeper is able to stay down and make the clutch save.
89’ SAVE. Davies comes up big again and this time it looks like it will save a his side a point as Davies collides with Furlong in the six yard box and is able to hold onto the ball.

90+1’ Full Time. There is the final whistle and it ends a frustrating night for QPR as they outshot the home side 10-4 but ended goalless.

“Just like last match, I feel we controlled most of the match but for some reason we just weren’t able to make it happen tonight. This feels like a loss of points that we should have had but we don’t have much time to think about it. This league is brutal and the matches come fast, we need to pick up and get back out there in a few days.”

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

Stlducks History against
Record: 0-0-2 GD -2
Fulham have given Wolters trouble ever since he arrived to QPR. Fulham is the only team to score 5 goals against a Max Wolters side when they beat the R’s 5-3 at Craven Cottage two years ago.

Pre-Match
After the surprising 0-0 draw to Barnsley, QPR are looking for their first win over the Cottagers in three years. Ingram is in goal but Smithies has been cleared to play and will most likely make his return next week. Onuoha, Aidoo and Baptiste are the back three with Ssewankambo and Perch as the wingbacks. Onomah, Da Silva Lopes and Mackie are the midfield as Wolters is looking to be more aggressive with Adams and Sylla on top.

0’ Sylla starts the night with a pass back to Mackie and we are underway with a packed house and the rain is falling.
15’ GOAL Rui Fonte (assisted by Ryan Fredericks)
After a quarter of an hour of back and forth possession Fulham finally get the first shot attempt of the night and it goes in from six yards out. QPRs defense was scrambling on the counter attack, Fulham played two quick passes across the box to find the striker all alone for the easy tap in.

25’ GOAL Jamie Mackie (asst by J. Perch)
QPR respond right back with a goal of their own as Sylla draws two defenders with him into the right corner leaving room for Mackie to make a run into the box. Perch finds him with a perfect cross to head home.
27’ GOAL Rui Fonte (assisted by Ryan Sessegnon)
Sometimes it's good to be lucky and that is what Rui Fonte is right now. Falling down in the box, Fonte is barely able to get a foot onto the low cross while Ingram slips on the wet pitch and can only watch as the ball slowly rolls over the line.
43’ PENALTY. Cairny squeezes through two defenders and lines up for the shot but is knocked down from behind by Onuoha before he can shoot. Big change for Fulham to take a two goal lead into the half.
44’ SAVE. What a save by Ingram! The keeper dives to his right to deny Rui Fonte of his hat trick and to keep his side in it right before the half.
51’ GOAL. Rui Fonte (asst by Cairney)
There is the hat trick we all knew was coming. A major blow for QPR as they looked like they were going to draw level before a quick midfield pass from Ream to Cairney followed by a perfectly weighted through ball to Fonte. Ingram made a mistake coming off his line and Fonte tapped it in around the keeper.
52’ POST.\ QPR are really pushing for it now, Mackies attempt hits the post for the second time tonight but the crowd is starting to come alive.
57’ OFF THE POST AGAIN. It's been that kind of night for the home side as Adams makes a wonderful volley with pace but his shot finds the outside of the post.

71’ GOAL CAIRNEY (asst by Sessegnon)
That should do it. With QPR playing a high press trying to score quick, Ryan Sessegnon plays a one-two with Cairney, lobbing a through ball over the heads of the last two defenders giving Cairney an easy one on one with the keeper.
73’ GOAL MITROVIC (asst by Targett)
The wheels have completely fallen off at Loftus Road now. No defense in sight giving the sub, Mitrovic plenty of space in the box to collect Targetts cross and fire into the net.
90+1’ Full Time. It is finally over as Max Wolters finds himself on the wrong side of another blowout to Fulham. The away side came in needing the 3pts after a slow start to the season and they showed just how dangerous they can be tonight.”

“The score doesn't tell the whole story tonight. Fulham were fantastic but we were very unlucky. To hit the post 3 times in a match is very unlucky. When Ingram saved the penalty before half, I thought we had a chance. Even when they went up 3-1 we felt in control but then everything fell apart. It was unlucky but Fulham were great so we can't take anything from them tonight.”

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

Stlducks History against
Record: 1-1-1 GD -2
QPR have not lost to Sunderland in the league since Wolters took over but Sunderland did knock QPR out of the league cup in the 3rd round last season.

Pre-Match
QPR have been licking their wounds for a week following the 5-1 defeat to Fulham and they now have the perfect opponent to get back to winning ways against. Sunderland have taken one point from the last five matches and are sitting last in the league. Smithies is back in goal for the R’s with Furlong, Onuoha, Aidoo, Lynch and Garmston as the back line. Adegbenro and Luongo are back in the starting lineup with Josh Onomah in midfield. Jamie Mackie got the nod for a starting position following his goal last week along with Sylla.

0’ Kickoff The home side get us started at the Stadium of Light on a clear, sunny afternoon.
9’ SAVE QPR have come out aggressive in attack as Sylla forces a diving save from Ruiter that deflects out for a corner. Off the corner Lynch’s header goes just high.
26’ SAVE. Ruiter’s 5th save already and this one comes off an error of his own. Furlong’s cross was too close to the goal allowing Ruiter to punch it away but it punch goes right to Mackie who takes a one time shot but right back into the arms of Ruiter.
28’ GOAL J. Mackie (assisted by Josh Onomah)
For the second match in a row, Mackie scores first for QPR. This time coming off quick ball movement around the box and great build up play by Onomah and Sylla. Sylla faked a shot causing his defender to lunge out and move out of position. Sylla played a quick pass to Onomah who tapped it over into the path of Mackie to fire into the corner.

45+2’ Halftime. Time for Sunderland to take a breathe as they have been under attack for 45 minutes. Sunderland should be happy this one is only 1-0 as Ruiter has had to come up with 7 saves already.
59’ SAVE. Ruiter has been the man of the match so far, denying Mackie a second goal with another diving save. This time Ruiter is able to control the shot and not allow a follow up attempt.
69’ GOAL Jamie Mackie (Unassisted)
Mackie is on fire and this time he did it all on his own. Chasing down a long ball into the left corner, the 31 year old dribbled around the edge of the box trying to find space, a slight hesitation gave him all the room he needed before aiming a perfectly placed shot low and into the corner.
71’ GOAL S. Adegbenro (Unassisted)
That should do it now, 3-0 to the away side. Mackie was going for the hat-trick but Ruiter made a diving save. The deflected shot fell right into the pack of Adegbenro who pushed the ball across the line.
75’ SAVE. Smithies is finally into the action on a rare counter-attack by Sunderland. Smithies came out to the edge of the box to meet the attacker head on and clear the shot away.
84’ GOAL. C. Adams. (Unassisted)
Adams came off for Sylla in the 74’ using his fresh legs he burst past the back line of Sunderland for an easy one on one goal to make it 4-0.
90’ GOAL. L. Freeman (assisted by J. Onomah)
Welcome back Luke Freeman. The winger has been out with an injury for 2 months, making his return today in the 70’. Onomah took the ball to the corner looking to waste time but Freeman was open in the box calling for the cross. Onomah’s low cross was all Freeman needed as he poked the ball past a charging keeper to make it 5-0.

90+3’ Full Time. This was exactly the game QPR needed after last week’s result. A clean sheet, major improvement in GD and multiple goal scorers. Sunderland on the other hand find themselves falling further and further back as they are dead last in the standings.

“Today was a complete team effort. Mackie has been hot of late, Adegbenro looked great in midfielder and our two guys coming back [Smithies and Freeman] looked like they didn’t miss a step. We need to build on this and find some consistency to continue moving up the table.”

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

QPR travel to struggling Bolton who Max Wolters has never faced before. Bolton are currently 19th in the table and lost three straight. A change in the formation for QPR as they move to a 3-5-2 with only three defenders on the pitch.

The changes were noticeable early as the R’s controlled the match from the off, outshooting Bolton 15-3 while having 60% of the possession.

The first goal for QPR came six minutes in from a corner the Da Silva Lopes crossed in for a thundering header by defender Onuoha. QPR would waste a few chances before the half going in with a 1-0 lead much to the home side’s surprise.

The match opened up quickly in the second half as two minutes into the half Jamie Mackie set up Che Adams on a cross from one side of the six yard box to the other for the striker to tap in. Three minutes later it was Mackie scoring to make it 3-0. Mackie’s goal came off a major error from the Bolton defender who played a ball back to the keeper but didn’t put enough on it. Mackie beat the keeper to the ball, flicked around the diving keeper and tapped it into the empty net.

QPR would add a fourth goal in the 83rd minute off another corner, this time set up by Wszolek for Luongo to head in. The win moves the R’s to 4th place in the table, five points off an automatic promotion position.
