Re: Webb has thrown 42 consecutive scoreless innings.

I still remember when Orel set the record in 1988. It was 1988 wasn't it? I think I have the Topps or Donruss card recognizing it. Anyway it was an amazing feat then and if Webb is able to break it, it'll be a little more amazing doing it in 2007 compared to Orel doing it in 1988, in my mind. Like mjb said, very impressive streak whether Webb is able to break the record or not. Lot of things have to fall a pitcher's way to pull this off too.

Quite a run no doubt, and very impressive. I don't think he will get to Orel though.

Bobby Jenks tied the record for most batters retired in a row (41). He has not pitched since tying it.

That was pretty good stuff there but sheesh Hawk Harrelson made it sound like Jenks and the White Sox had completed a no-hitter. It's pretty sickening when the home town announcer goes THAT bonkers over a 6-0 game that the home team loses.

But that's neither here nor there. I just felt like bashing Hawk

I think Webb has already won his 2nd straight Cy Young award...

Well, the White Sox had pretty much nothing else to cheer about this season so..

He shouldn't based off of right now. Penny and Peavy are having better seasons.
