Munson and Mattingly, most under-appreciated Steinbrenner era Yankees (where the HoF is concerned). If Mr. October was the straw that stirs the drink, Munson was the straw that stirred the straw.

Wait, someone's replying to my 2009 takes now? This thread is eating its own tail.

FWIW, I don't feel the same way now. Very much doubt Posada's ever gonna make it.

It'll be interesting in about a decade when Ortiz becomes eligible. Rest assured the Boston media (including half of ESPN) will pushing HARD for Big Papi. After all, he's one of the only two clutch hitters in baseball history.
Then again, a lot can happen in a million years!

Technically you were right when you said Baines won't make it in a million years. He didn't make it in a million years, he made it in 18.

Does Cano stand a chance with his PED suspension? I think he was a lock without it...nearly 70 WAR at 2B, hit for average, power, gg defense, in New York. I'm guessing he'll get the ARod treatment....

No cano. Those PEDs hurt him and after he left the Yankees he fell off. That second half of his career is not good.

He had a solid run in Seattle. Not worth that absurd contract, but he was solid.

I still don't know how DiPoto duped the Mets into that trade? Cano was 35 years old.

Re: Hall Of Fame: Yes Or No?

What about Joe Maddon and Terry Francona? I'm not sure either way about Francona but I'd tend to lean ''IN''. And if Davey Johnson isn't in, I don't know how Maddon is a HoF'er.

Cano's agent went on to become the Mets GM that traded for him, that's how
