Re: Baseball cards

Those cards are not very appealing looking and like redskinrussell said look like something out of a serial box.

Could a video company make a video game like this without the MLB logos, but with the actual players?
Those are some ugly *** cards.

I guess in theory the answer is yes. However, the game would not be able to have real team names, logo's, uniforms, or stadiums. I can't see there being much interest in a game like that.

those arent this years cards. that set is actually last years. i bought a box of upper deck recently and its completely normal, just on the bottom in the copyright prints, it has mlbpa instead of major league baseball inc or whatever it is.

Re: Baseball cards

I'm a little late to the discussion, but here's my story.

Started colelctiong back in 1980. I had almost complete sets between 1980 and 1984. After that I dropped out of the hobby. Many years later I returned. I currently have a complete Topps set for every year from 1974 to present.

I don't bother buying boxes. Too expensive, and all I want is the player cards. I'm not going to spend a lot of time chasing all the "chopped" jerseys, bats, and jocks they include now.

My favorite card is the 1984 Topps Robin Yount a had signed. No idea what it's worth, but it doesn't matter because I'm never selling it. My collection will someday be handed down to my son, who is 9 now.

My favorite sets are (all Topps) 1987 (love the woodgrain background), 2009 (Nice return to form after some iffy years), and 1968 (Don't have this set yet, but I love the design).

I agree. The Topps 1987 was my favorite set, and I put 2 of them together by hand. I have about 5,000 of those cards in a basement in NY somewhere. LOL..

it was a great year for cards. Not counting the 86 traded set, you had rookie cards for Bonds, Will Clark, McGwire, (first A's card) Incaviglia, Bo Jackson. It was cool because it had future stars cards, record breaker cards, All-Star cards, and turn back the clock cards.

I have a 1973 Mike Schmidt rookie card, but it's not in perfect condition. I also have a couple of McGwire Olympic rookies, Griffey's 89 Upper Deck rookie, and assorted Bonds and Maddux rookies.

God, I miss collecting. Brings back great memories.

Yeah, that was a good set. I think '87 Topps was one of the first wax boxes I ever bought. I also have all the cards you mentioned for that set.
