I agree. It gets really annoying having to watch the 9 PM start times when the Rangers play the Angels/A's/M's.

This is going to happen, the Houston owner saves like 60 million dollars by switching to the AL.

Re: MLB Labor Deal

Does this also get rid of unbalanced schedules? With interleague going on all season, I'm assuming teams are playing more games against the other league. Hopefully that will reduce the number of divisional games. It's pretty ridiculous to play each team in your division 19 times.

Re: MLB Labor Deal

They won't necessarily have to play more interleague games, but it would probably be easier on the schedule makers if there were a few more per team.

I haven't heard anything about going back to a more balanced schedule. I'm assuming they'll keep it roughly the way it is.

MLBPA, still the strongest sports union in professional sports.

Owners, Players Reach New CBA
By Dan Mennella [November 17, 2011 at 6:01pm CST]
The owners and players have settled on a new, five-year collective bargaining agreement which will be officially announced on Monday, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com (Twitter links).

Among the expected changes, according to the Associated Press: The newly sold Astros will join the American League in 2013. Five teams will make the postseason from each league, perhaps as soon as in 2012, and Interleague Play will be extended into September.

We learned yesterday that the old compensation system for free agents should remain in place for this offseason.

Re: MLB Labor Deal

Ten out of 30 teams making the playoffs still isn't too much, I think. Plus those one-game play-ins will be exciting to watch every year. I support this move.

Re: MLB Labor Deal

Gotta admit I didn't like the extra wild card team when I first heard about it, but the more I think about it the more I like it. I like having another playoff spot available, and I like that it rewards teams for winning the division.

Of course, I'm assuming they mean it'll be a one game playoff for the wild card teams, which will force those teams to spend a top of the rotation guy trying to win that game. That will help establish those teams as legit underdog teams, and will make for a good story once one of those teams breaks through and beats a division winner the next round.

As for the Astros in the AL West, it'll be nice as an Ms fan to get another team in the division. Kinda lame seeing just three division "rivals" especially when one of those teams is Oakland.
