They don't make you better at baseball. This isn't a Mr. Olympia where the best body wins.

Label them a felon, perhaps, due to the legality of it but you can take extra protein, testosterone and a boatload of supplements and not be labeled a cheater. Same damn thing.
Really? They don't make you better?
So for the first decade of his career Bonds just held back and decided to only hit 40 HR's instead of 70?
Same with Sosa? He came in as a 175lb defensive wiz, but those roids didn't help him develop into a plodding RF who could hit 60+ HR's every year?

I've never seen anyone add 60lbs to their bench in 4 weeks time by taking creatine or protein.
There are countless stories of players eclipsing personal bests after taking roids.
Case in point, Lance Armstrong. He was a middle-of-the-pack cyclist until he started using. Then he won 7 TdF races. Nope. Steroids didn't help him at all there.

To say that protein shakes and creatine have the exact same effect as steroids is incredibly ignorant

How many times did Bonds hit 50+ homeruns? I'll give a the answer. Once.

You don't think that switching from Three Rivers (which was closer to a neutral park slightly favoring pitchers) to later in his career playing at ATT park which was practically tailor made for him played ANY part in that?

Did it make him a better player? His defense took a dive and made him a liability.

But again, he must have did it overnight just by taking steroids and praying that god would make him a better baseball player.

Also, I guess by "hitting 60+ HR every year" you mean the three years he hit over 60, and never sniffed 60 again? Let's also forget about the corked bat incident.

Weight room numbers? Of course steroids would help. Baseball numbers? More stamina, more games, more playing time. Of course numbers would also go up.

Imagine that. Steroids help in an activity solely based on endurance. Who woulda thunk it?

I didn't say "protein shakes and creatine." I said with the supplements available today. By that, I mean the stacks people can by where you take 5-15+ pills a day. Completely legal.

Did I say steroids have no effect on people? No, that's ignorant. Do they change the type of player you are? If you want them to.

Do they make you 'better' than people who don't do them? Doubt it.

Re: MLB Off-Topic 2013

LOL at the Bonds reference.
His HR/AB doubled after saucing.
The reason his numbers weren't higher after injecting diesel is because his tricep nearly fell off from too much muscle causing a loss in games played.

And if steroids do nothing to improve your game, then why on earth would any MLB player take steroids? Especially when they know it's illegal and can result in loss of games, money and possible HoF recognition?
If legal supplement stacks did the same thing, then why break the rules and/or law?

Anyone can make a case for taking HGH to recover from injuries or fatigue, but cases where players use roids for extended periods of time, such as Sosa, prove that steroids can make you a much better player.
From '93-'97 (when he looked somewhat human) he averaged 34 HR's per season.
From '98-'02 (as the incredible hulk) he averaged 58 HR's per year.
Nope, nothing to see here people!

OFF-SEASON TOPICS, BROOOOOOOO.

Actually, I just hate that players deserving get kept out of the HoF. PEDs are as old as the sports themselves, whether they are amphetamines or what have you.

I'm partway with you all. I think they're dismissing the bigger issue: bad judgment calls will still be made by umpires, and they will only be less careful about making mistakes with a replay system to back some of their calls.
