The Yankees really need to invest in a catcher that can do better than that. Sanchez is a 1B/DH type. If they want to keep him at catcher than they have to be prepared to put in a defensive replacement late in games like this.

That short hop is by no means easy to catch. Correa happened to stand up at just the wrong time, or it would've been a strike.

Good game by the Astros. Shout out to Verlander, the Virginia kid. If someone had to dominate us, I'm glad it was him.

Not looking forward to having to read hot takes from people like a catcher has never dropped a ball on a short hop before, but what can ya do? Back at it on Monday.

I agree, there's going to be a lot of idiots talking crap but this kind of thing has haunted Sanchez a lot in his career. He just isn't a good defensive catcher. He's basically Mike Piazza v2.0 which is awesome but at the same time you can't have a catcher who has as much trouble as he has. That wasn't the easiest play in the world for any catcher but because of who Sanchez is it's going to be magnified.

It's actually pretty easy. That's what you want is a short hop or a long hop. A MLB catcher should come up with that.

I agree.

Tough short hop to catch with a catcher's mitt; blame goes to Didi here.

Well on second thought...it's Altuve and the 3B coach forcing the Yanks to tag them out. If Altuve didn't score, we'd be having a discussion how he Greg Bird'ed that ball in the gap as he got a terrible jump.

I don't really care who wins this series but damn, these first two games have been great. Every pitch has so much riding on it.

Astros won their 2 games at home now the Yankees turn. The pitching matchups should favor the Yankees in the next two.

They are not out of it by any means.

At least in this case it's justifiable aggression. It would've only been the 2nd out and you'd still have a guy on 2nd. I'm sure there'd be a lot of discussion if the Astros were to go on and lose the game but it's a decision by the 3B coach that I think can be defended.

EDIT: To Steven78's point, I think the Yanks are still in it. I almost expect a loss on Monday with Charlie Morton getting the start.
