Unrelated to your team, but it's crazy that a guy doing a podcast (possibly) gets a job before Sam Cassell.

Are they gonna wait until he's an old man to finally give him an opportunity?

I was mentioned that with Sam Cassell. He was well received in Philly. Part of the reason, he went to Boston was to get from under Doc. That's not a shot at Doc, but sometimes when you're under someone for so long, it's hard to get noticed.

It feels like for Cassell, his best bet is being in a situation where he becomes an interim HC in a season and earning it. For coaches like him, it's seems like there's always a young coach with buzz or Retread HC in the way.

I just love it for the takes, and if the Lakers get to a slow start, oh boy Basically, let's watch it all burn.

Like, I have never listened to 1 minute of his podcast, he can't be that good? Like, is he like Romo calling plays pre-snap and all that? The more I think about it, the more I like it It has the potential to fail so spectacularly.

How is it a mockery before we even know if it doesn’t pan out? It’s not really different than hiring any other former player. Walton, Ham, etc. JJ obviously has a good mind for the game, not that it means it will always work out simply because of that.

His podcast actually isn’t that bad if you want actual basketball talk and not basketball gossip. A lot of his content is what actually happens on the floor and why, which is sorta refreshing at times because so much of it has become story telling.

No idea how well that translates to coaching obviously.

I mean it took some things happening for it to be a disaster, but in his first year it was anything but a disaster.

But my main reason in asking what was the difference between the two is that when Nash got hired, it was “Oh man, he’s jumping the line in front of qualified BLACK Coaches. They have Jacque Vaughn on the team for years and it’s an outrage he doesn’t get the job. Nash has no experience other than a consultant/player development guy with the Warriors, he won’t work out”

With JJ getting the job, “Oh well he has a podcast with Lebron and knows his stuff so he should do good”
