Yeah I heard that during one of his games and immediately went to NBA.com to check. His game has come a long way.

China? Methinks you need to set your eyes a little closer to home. I'm pretty sure the morons voting for TMac are Americans. Didn't Grant Hill make the All-Star teams a few times when he wasn't even playing? I'm pretty sure that Americans were responsible for that, 'coz that happened long before NBA globalization.

Incidentally, Yao Ming had been winning the All Star ballots both in China, and in the USA. There was no secret chinese conspiracy to "make it happen". These days, any center that gets 20-10-2 is an automatic for the All Star game. Especially in the western conference.

The All NBA Team is a better gauge of a player's accomplishments than the All Star Team, IMHO.

Haha there's no conspiracy, the Chinese just show a tremendous amount of support for their dude Yao (and Kobe, who they almost love more) as well as any teammates of Yao that end up on the ballot. Remember Shane Battier getting a bunch of votes a few years back? Same thing... I could care less about All-Star votes, but I bet if they ran the numbers, a very significant amount for T-Mac would be coming from China.

Don't forget the fools over here who are also adding to it. Not surprised though seeing how the voting process has been s joke for a while now.

Yeah for sure, it's clearly not just China... but I'd definitely think that China is the difference between him beating out the other candidates and not, given how close the race is (he's only 9 thousand votes ahead of Nash).

Count me as another who REALLY hopes Gerald will be recognized this year as an All-Star. He's improved his game in every way, and is certainly deserving. It should help that the Bobcats are at least serviceable as an NBA team this year (despite the loss to the Nets).
