Re: Eric Spo

I think that because this roster has only been together for one year, the benefit of the doubt will give Spoelstra another chance...

He might be a decent coach, but I just don't get ANY sort of "authority figure" HC vibe from him in his current situation...

I can't see the Big Three or Reilly taking him all that seriously...

If they fail to win it all next year, however, Reilly will take Fredo out in the boat and that'll be the end of that...

This whole shebang has a three year window...

Year One: Well we know how that worked out
Year Two: Win it all or HC gets canned
Year Three: Win it all or alter / dismantle the current "concept"

Losing a 15 point lead in the 4th. Coaching is a factor.
He was out coached, more likely than not. Carlisle made some good adjustments with Stevenson and Barea, worked the zone, kept his guys playing Mavericks basketball, and it all followed the plan.

I think Carlisle had more adjustments he could make, though. Spoelstra didn't have a very good bench to work with. He couldn't control his guys tuning him out (Guys? or is it just Guy?).

15 point lead in the 4th, yeah, he could have probably done a better job coaching wise, but the players make the plays, and his star player - Lebron James - decided he was taking his talents to outer space.

So was every other coach the Mavs played in the playoffs this year.

Coaching isn't the Heat's problem.

Re: Eric Spo

He seems more like a encourager and not a coach. A good coach knows how to get the best out of his players and he puts his players in a position to get the best out of those players. He seemed to be good at motivating, but when he was getting out coach by Rick. He didn't know how to deal with it. I say he will be gone and they will find a coach that is both this time. X's and 0's and motivator.

Re: Eric Spo

I think Spoelstra needs more time before a decision can be made. He has only been a head coach for three or four years now, so he is still learning and can improve. There is nothing to suggest that he won't work at becoming a better coach and that he can't learn from his mistakes. He is not an old person set in his ways.

I forget who said this, but it was about Rick Carlisle and how he has changed from being the coach that wanted to have complete control on offense. Since the Mavericks were a veteran group, he allowed them to use their experience to dictate what they wanted to run instead of insisting on calling every play. It could just be simple adjustments for Spoelstra and just a matter of growing as a coach.

It was definitely one of them..maybe not the biggest, because as a young coach he made some mistakes in the post season, and didnt adjust when he should have, but again even with that the games were close..and I think Miami would've won had LeBron not floated into the twilight zone

Im not positive I think spo is the problem, but what about brian shaw? I might just be pulling something way out of the ballpark but this is a guy who has worked under phill jackson and would bring an offense that I think would be very effective with the big 3.
