I'm really not sure, looking at numbers it doesn't seem that he's bad, but even with advanced stats nearly all defensive numbers are a result of team defense more so than individual performance.. Haven't watched a ton of Sixer games over the past couple seasons, and the ones I have watched I wasn't making it a point to dissect Turner's defense lol.

I don't want to see Haslem gone but he hasn't played I don't think since the last Thunder game. He's pretty much completely out of the rotation at this point.. Anything that's gets rid of James Jones is a plus in my opinion.

Not sure if it was ever a serious rumor, but outside of Haslem being a strong part of that team chemistry and understanding their system and his role I think it would be an easy win for Miami.

He gives them a starter for when Wade is out and another guy who can get to the basket and score. Good rebounder and free throw shooter, but definitely lacks outside shooting.

You still lack a quality big man but maybe they still feel Oden can be that answer for some solid playoff minutes.... With already having Bosh, Birdman, and Oden playing center it wouldn't make much sense to grab a 4th unless one of them is in the trade or Oden is moved to the IR.

If Turner can produce defensively in their system an occasional small ball line-up with Wade, Turner, Bron, and Bosh all on the court together would be tough for defenses to handle.

I guess I can understand not wanting Gordon, though he's a massive upgrade over what y'all landed with Mayo.. But curious to why you wouldn't want Asik.. I can't think of many teams (without star big men) who wouldn't want Asik.. Especially if all your losing is bench players..

If the problem however is losing Sanders I can understand that, I just don't see how someone would just flat out not want Asik. Kinda baffling

How would you feel if the same trade was for Hawes rather than Turner, contracts are nearly identical. And Philly is rumored to be shopping both of them as well as Young.. Trade I saw only mentioned Turner, so maybe Miami has shown interest in him, or maybe it's just crap.

Philly is wanting to get worse while adding picks, not sure if they would be willing to trade Wroten but say the trade was for Hawes and they added Wroten, Miami adds Lewis to make it work salary wise.. Trade becomes: Hawes & Wroten for Haslem, Jones, Lewis, and a 1st. If Lewis is needed to be kept swap for Douglas.. Wroten is a PG/SG anyways no real need for 3 true point guards plus Allen, Wroten, and Wade...Again just brainstorming here, not sure if they are even willing to ship out Wroten.

Edit:
Apparently lots of teams have been making offers for Norris Cole and the Heat have been shutting them all down: http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap...se-To-Deal-Him

Also per Ira Winderman, the Heat are less likely to make a move by the deadline and rather look towards the March 1st waiver deadline. Winderman speculates that the Heat will look at potential buyout candidates in Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva, Caron Butler and Chris Kaman..

Butler and Gordon makes sense, but not so much since they already have Allen playing Gordon's role, and Battier/Lewis/Beasley in Butler's role... I personally would rather see a Kaman buyout, along with MAYBE the Turner trade... Losing Haslem is a blow, but he would likely reject the player option and return to Miami next season if the trade would go through.

Re: 2013-14 Transactions Thread

Just saw a Detroit writer propose this trade... Basically give up completely on the Smith experiment and move Josh Smith and Rodney Stuckey to Utah for the expiring Richard Jefferson and Andris Biedrins..

Stuckey has an expiring contract as well should Utah not want to hold on to him, but a line-up of Burke, Stuckey, Hayward, Smith, Favors and a bench with Burks, Williams, Kanter would be fairly solid.. If they lose Hayward in the off season adding Smith leaves them with some stability.

Most trade rumors with Detroit usually involve Monroe being moved, thought this was an interesting alternative and Detroit builds around the two young guys rather than Smith.

Bulls signed Jarvis Varnado to a 10 day contract for their 13th roster spot. Pleasant surprise, I like Varnado's game and think he's a much needed upgrade over Nazr.

If he makes it off the bench I'd be shocked. Thibs is notorious for that.

I was going to say, looks good on paper, but he will rarely see the floor.

Did the same thing with Malcolm Thomas who actually played well in very limited time.

Concerned about re-signing him, Cavs have been testing trade market for Luol Deng ahead of deadline, multiple sources told ESPN.

Cleveland gave up multiple picks for Deng and now faces the prospect of him leaving them with no return on that investment.
Just odd....
