Can you really win MVP shooting 40% from the field? Russ is going to be brick-tastic next year.

AI did, but he also led his team to the 1 seed, Russ and Steven Adams aren't gonna be able to pull that off.

Curry, LeBron, Kobe, Rose, Iverson, Jordan, they've won MVP shooting in the mid-upper 40's.. With Iverson and Rose being under 45.

Russ shot 43 percent the year Durant was out.. I'm not sure how much difference the voters judge 42% against 46%.. That's a little over half a shot made per 20 shots difference. Around 1.5 misses per every 2 games most likely. Pretty minimal.

All of those guys had top 1 or 2 seeded teams. Russ is about to put up a bunch of counting stats, with a sky high usage, on a 5 or 6 seed. I just don't see the voters giving that an MVP.

Possible.. But they weren't playing in a West this deep a year after losing their co-star either.. Idk it's tough to say. It'll be hard to argue what the award actually means in terms of "value" when he's yet again racking up over half his teams total offense.. More of it than what Curry did even this past season.

But, like you said, record does matter and voters consistently sway votes far too heavily on team success. I think if OKC breaks top 5 it's earned.. But it's pointless to discuss before we even see how teams play.

Also who's to say that Westbrook even finishes the year with OKC. I still fully believe that he will get moved somewhere before or at the deadline so that way Presi can say he got something for at least 1 one of his big stars leaving.

Likely Curry or a non Warriors player. Don't forget about Lebron too, there are other players out their who might win it.
