PES 2012 Official Reviews

For those of us that read reviews

They seem to be coming in fast!

Xbox 360: http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-...critic-reviews

Must say I am disappointed given these initial reviews (current overall is 81).

I expected a lot higher given this year's tremendous gameplay.

Not surprised. The reviews will take a hit just because of the licensing. You have to take the good with the bad.

Re: PES 2012 Official Reviews

There are two things in the Gamepro review that stand out for me and are why I prefer PES this year. Although I don't agree taht it is jerky or that is stutters. I did in the past but not this year.

The graphics are nice and the player likenesses are impressive, but in motion, they have something of a stuttering, jerky quality that can't match FIFA's fluidity (in my more generous moments, I assume that the reason I have such great control in PES is precisely because of this, since I'm not getting caught in long, scripted animations). FIFA definitely has the fancy plumage and the enticing mating dance to attract most soccer fans.

No two matches -- even between the same teams -- ever feel quite the same, and it's that element of surprise that just might, at least offline, make Pro Evolution my go-to soccer game this season.

Exactly, Even today I was playing PES11 and I scored a goal that I haven't ever seen since I bought the game last November. (A chip into the box that I went for the header and missed, but the goalie was faked out and the ball actually curved into the net!)

When I sit down to play PES, I feel like I'm sitting down to watch a soccer match -- with no real expectations of how the game will play out.

The Game Pro review was very balanced. I can't say I agree with the presentation review, but to each their own.

Agreed. Every game in Fifa seems to play out the same way, at least the demo did.

Yeah, for me, the argument has never been that Fifa was or is a bad game. I've purchased it the past three years and always felt it was a great game, but after about a month or two I was consistently getting bored with the gameplay and felt like there was no creativity with the goals. This year they've done a lot to alleviate those concerns, but I'm still skeptical. PES has been a love at first sight type of game for me and I still enjoy PES11 and may continue to play my career modes even with PES12 coming out next week. It's understandable though that people can't look past the licensing issues or just overall different feel that PES provides compared to Fifa.

And for me that just isn't good enough anymore since PES is pretty smooth and fluid this year although maybe still not as much as Fifa but much better than before.
