Why do I constantly hit the crossbar when shooting?

I've been playing PES for a few years now but only recently started to really "get the hang of it". That being said, I can't finish for the life of me on manual shooting.

EVERYTHING, EVERY (^&)(*^)(*&(*& THING goes off the crossbar!

Can you guys give me any tips on how to finish?

Keep the power bar green. Once you get into the yellow, orange and red ranges it is a bit of a gamble. Especially if you are outside the box.

Also holding down R2 helps as well. Contolled shots work better for me in one on one situations.

my guess is you are using Advanced shooting

it's hard NOT to hit the crossbar with this shooting option imo

best shooting option is manual for free Left stick control and the most shot variety .. BUT it's also the hardest to master and control

Basic works... but it's to simple and overpowered more so than any PES before.. I would just use this if you having lots of trouble...

I know you said you are using manual shooting but I think you might have Advanced selected because it's very common to hit the bar with that setting constantly..

If you just use Basic you can also use manual shooting by using L2 I suppose

and if you are hitting the crossbar with manual shooting than I will say you are doing good and stick with it because at least you are hitting the target which is better than my manual shooting at the moment in pes.. ha

it's funny.. playing the fifa demo on manual and then switching back to PES manual to play really messes me up and made me a lot worst.

Yeah, advanced is just plain weird. It's like it forces you to aim for a tiny window at the top and bottom corners, and you hit the target or hit the woodwork every time.

Advance is also not based on the camera angle, it is based on the position of the player. So I always have to go back to the tutorial when starting to play after a break.

Thanks to everyone for their guidance. After spebding some time in practice mode, I went back to Basic shooting and started using R2 a lot more, that seems to have helped.

I basically think what Konami needs to patch is reduce the over effectiveness of basic shooting.. it's to accurate and powerful making it to easy to score..

I use the advanced shooting... and for the first week or so... hit the crossbar like CRAZY.

I still hit it, but I've gotten much better. The problem was user error. Either too much power or holding the aim a little too long to try to put it in the corner. I found that less is more.
