4-6 Bear in 2K3

Anyone good at running the Bear defense? I've been using it some on running downs with mixed success. I was having good luck using the all blitz 4-6 from the Rams playbook on 3rd downs for awhile but after turning up the sliders backs have been seeping through the gaps on the weak side. In general it seems that this formation creates many holes in the weak side for runners to slip through.

Is this the common experience or do I need to know something? Thanks.

When it works, it works well, but I was getting burned by big plays so often when I used it, that I had to stop.

If they run to the strong side of the defense or up the middle you're usually okay but if they run to the weak side you will be absolutley brutalized. I never call that play when I think that there's even a chance that they'll run the ball. Well actually I still call it sometimes on third and 5-7 yards and just pray that they don't run the ball.

Depends on what kind of a defense you have. If you have a front 7 like the Steelers, there's no since in using it. I use the Bills, so I don't have much of a choice but to use it for my base formation on 1st&2nd down if I want to have any chance of stopping the run. Sure you give up the occasional big play thru the air, but my philosophy is I'd rather die quick than slow. Just control the weak side LB or safety yourself if you're worried about getting burned to that side.

Hahahaha, that was good one.
When someone has a long drive on you and you just couldn't stop anything they were doing, it kinda feels like your taking it hard up their. But when you get hit wit the big play, it seems to happen so fast that it doesn't hit you 4-awhile. LOL

It's pretty accurate actually. The 46 is a high risk high reward defense. Once the "sack" reward is worked into the game, it will be spot on.

Yeah the 46 is a hit or miss formation. It's either you get a tackle for a loss or you get burny on a 10+ yard play it seems. I use it often, depending on who is the running back

When I am not able to stop the run, I will use the 4-6 until I do. I can't stand being ran over.
