At least it isn't Norv!!! I'm happy about that, not alot of big time coaching names available.

Hopefully Wade will bring a more aggresive 3-4 approach.

I like Rivera but he wanted to switch to 4-3, I think we have a chance of being better right now with the 3-4.

Good job "Lil' Al Davis"! I believe Wade was the defensive architect of the greatest collapse in playoff history. He's perfect! This with proven offensive genius and developer of QB's Jason Garret....I see nothing but shiny rings!

Re: Cowboys hire...

I like the move. Keep thinking that we're gonna suck. We have a lot invested in the defense. We needed a defensive coach. Garrett won't be doing it alone. You know our offense, the offense that was 3rd in the league is scoring was lead by offensive assistant Tony Sparano, he's still here and may be coordinator over Garrett. The offense will be fine, hell it may be better since conservative Bill is out. With Phillips, we're going from running a passive 3-4 defense to an agressive 3-4 scheme.

Yall would be saying the same things no matter who we picked. Of course we could've gone with Singletary as the CEO type coach since he doesn't have much experience. We also could've gone with Rivera but it's obvious that Bill Parcells has sold Jones on the 3-4.

Wade Phillips wasn't working for the Houston Oilers in any capacity when they blew a 35-3 lead against Buffalo in 1992. What game are you talking about?

Re: Cowboys hire...

I think Wade will make the defense good but I hope Garret is as good as people think he is. I'm not optimistic but Wade is from Texas so he should know how fanatical Cowboy fans are and the pressure that will be on him all year around for being the head coach of the Cowboys.

It will be interesting who he hires for the d coord. Many people thought it was going to be Rivera but that's not going to happening now. Should be an interesting off season.

edit* Oh, next year will be interesting to see the comparison with Merriman and Ware.

Re: Cowboys hire...

So Charger fans, not only do you lose your Def-Cord, but you also lost the guy that would of probably replaced Wade to San Francisco.
One of the downfalls to having a good year. Everyone wants your guys.
