Summerall was a great play by play guy. I loved listening to him and Madden call a game.

NFL Network needs to dump Gumbel after this season. He hasn't improved at all from last year and it's clear he's not cut to be a PBP announcer. They need to hire someone like Gus Johnson.

I think that Gumbel sounds kind of like Kermit the Frog. He is so terrible. I am sure that Fox will be offering him a contract once he is done with the NFLN.

He has to go now. I must agree now. When he didn't see that was going to be a first down come on. The camera angle made it look short but it was obvious as night and day that it was just the angle and it was a first down by the nose.

If the guy says "period" instead of "quarter" one more time, I may not watch another game on NFLN. I sent the NFL an email last year with a list of common football terms that any woman would know, that Gumbel doesn't know. I do not know how he cannot call it a quarter, it is not a period, we aren't watching hockey.

They need to bring the halftime show guys into the booth. They are already paying them.

To be fair to Gumbel (I don't know why I should be but...) Al Michaels calls it a period from time to time instead of quarter.
