Yeah, I wouldn't take him at all in the 1st round. I'd take Mendenhall, Smith, and Felix Jones over Slaton. He doesn't seem like he could handle the NFL workload. Also he exclusively plays in the shotgun spread, no one really knows how well he translates to an NFL offense.

5. Atlanta (3-9)
The Pick: Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville
The Buzz: The Falcons are a total disaster this season and the quarterback spot is their highest priority.
I guess Petrino leaving changes this pick already

Wouldn't it be funny if they picked him anyways.

Not gonna happen. I see Blank trading up to get McFadden. With Vick gone the Falcons need to sell tickets. And McFadden can be the cornerstone of this franchise for a long time.

Re: Mock Draft for 2008

Pats did send a bunch of scouts down to watch Mcfadden a couple of weeks ago. I think they try to trade down but in the end the team they are trading with is going to give up a lot to move into position (as of right now #2).

What a sports year I've had as an obsessed Miami Dolphins fan this whole season makes me sick & the fact that the Pats are still unbeaten makes it even worse. I hope the Fins take Colt Brennan 1st overall

by the way NFL isn't my only disappoinment I'm also a Yankees & Knicks fan.

Re: Mock Draft for 2008

The way I see it, Miami passing on McFadden is like two mistakes - not getting that talent, and letting someone else in the division get it. Brown is not done by any means but you have to wonder if it isn't worth doing just so the Pats can't.

BTW, instant respect to the mock for the Titans taking a DE. WR is a veteran need - the last thing the Titans need is another young WR who normally take at least 2-3 seasons to flourish anyway. I think they will be pushing the trade blocks hard for a WR who isn't happy in his current situation (Comeone Detroit, you know you want Pacman).
