games from the 80s?

I have recently been searching online for classic NFL games of the mid 80s to mid 90s. Does anyone know of a site or place that has these for either download or sale? I've tried different torrents but nothing. I know there are some NCAA Basketball Championship dvds but nothing for the NFL.

This all started because I was telling a friend about the Fog Bowl and then started reminiscing about old games.

Selling classic games is illegal however there's a thriving trade community. I, myself have a listing of games for trade.

EDIT: On second thought, just PM me if you want the URL to my site.

It's part of a network of game trading sites but no one sells any games. Read a PM i'll send you though if you're serious about the hobby.

What I don't get is why doesn't the NFL Network broadcast any classic NFL games? I figured with a channel solely dedicated to the NFL that they would have aired classic games at least a few times a week. The only thing they've ever done was show like 10 or so classic games last year. I'd rather watch some classic games then see re-runs of NFL Total Access and Point After every day.

Re: games from the 80s?

The main reason the NFL doesn't show really classic games much (if at all) has to do with their broadcast partners. They had some kind of arrangement where games couldn't be rebroadcasted. Also, asside from ABC and MNF most of the masters were taped over rather then kept.

That's the story i've heard anyways. BTW the '04 game between the Dolphins and Pats will be on NFLN tomorrow night.

Re: games from the 80s?

I bump this up because there has been major news regarding old NFL broadcasts. The NFL is finally starting to get its act together and releasing older broadcasts on DVD format. I'm thinking that if this proves successful you may see all available tape transferred to a VOD service.

Anyways here's the news:

- http://www.amazon.com/NFL-Greatest-G...=operasport-20 12 of the team's games that year including the MNF loss to the Dolphins.

- http://www.amazon.com/Tampa-Bay-Bucc...=operasport-20 The postseason run of the Bucs in '02.

- http://www.amazon.com/NFL-Greatest-G...=operasport-20 The playoff run of the "The Greatest Show on Turf".

- http://www.amazon.com/NFL-Game-Archi...=operasport-20 The famous comeback game.

- http://www.amazon.com/Cleveland-Brow...=operasport-20 3 game set that includes: 1980 Browns vs. Packers (a game that epitomizes the Kardiac Kids), 1989 opening day rout of the Steelers and '02 playoff clinching win against the Falcons.
