Man, I understand there are always two sides of a story and I don't want to pick sides but damn, dawg... you're about to make 8 mil and negotiate to make even more. Is it really worth creating waves?

Well the Ravens should have done right by him and listed him as the position that he would get more money from.

Re: Suggs disputes Ravens' label...

Done right by him? According to who? Suggs? Newsome is correct in saying he was drafted as an outside linebacker and plays outside linebacker in the base set. His trips to the probowl have been as an OLB. I'm not saying that Suggs doesn't make a decent point but whatever his next contract is, it'll be more than what he's making this year which will be more than $8mil no matter what. Sorry, this is a case where he's creating an issue that could easily result in them partying ways and I don't see it being worth it.

Re: Suggs disputes Ravens' label...

A situation the Ravens could resolve by paying him a mere $800k more.

Either you're purposely ignoring my point or you just don't get it.

I get that he is technically an OLB, but he lines up in both positions and each side has a legitimate claim. But if you are Baltimore and you want this kid to be around for a while, just pay him the $800k and don't try to hold this up on principle.

Re: Suggs disputes Ravens' label...

Even if they pay him 800k he's still franchised and therefore is not guaranteed to stick around for a while. Plus I (me) am not Baltimore and from my perspective, Suggs should suck it up. He'll be making a lot more than that from the Ravens or whatever team he bounces for next year so crying over 800k when you're about to make 8mil and then get a raise on that is stupid.

Honestly, if I'm Baltimore, I don't want a guy that's gonna file a lawsuit over 800k b/c he doesn't think he should be called an OLB. He didn't care when he went to the probowl as an OLB, just when it means less money. If OLBs made more money he'd be mad if listed as a DE. It's not about the position it's about the paycheck and that's BS.

Mind you, I'm obviously a Ravens fan and am a Suggs fan but I won't defend selfishness like this. As I said, I can see both sides of this, but Suggs filing a suit is going to far and could force the beginning of the end.
