Who would've guessed that last place in the AFC East would have the same record as the leader of the AFC West?

This year has just been crazy.

Right now Miami is 2-0 against the AFC West. And it was not against the Chiefs or the Faiders.

Yep, that is why the whole playoff structure in the NFL with 4 divisions is a farce and needs to be looked at.

I remember the year Miami finished 10-6 and could not go to the playoffs but the 8-8 division leading Browns went ... just to get destroyed.

I agree with you - the best teams should be in the playoffs. I thought of an idea, typed it down and promptly erased it.

I'm not sure how you could change things to make things better - like would you have a whole division not represented in the playoffs? - I don't think that works.

Or do you have more 'wildcards', so that any team with a better record than the 'worst division winners' automatically gets to play at least in the wildcard round = that might work, but there are problems with that too.
