DeAngelo Hall could be looking for work sooner than later.

Not sure how reliable the site is but...

Quote:
The Oakland Raiders are close to a decision to release cornerback DeAngelo Hall, Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting.

Assuming the Raiders go through on their plans to cut him, they will have paid Hall $8 million for eight games, after sending a second-round draft pick to the Falcons to acquire Hall. But according to Schefter, the Raiders have already decided that the contract they gave Hall was a mistake, and they don't want to pay him another $16 million that he'd get if he were to get hurt while playing for Oakland.

Hall will be placed on waivers, meaning any NFL team that wants his contract can take him.

No **** that contract was a mistake, they should've gave it to Aso. This makes the Raiders a bigger joke than they already are. Someone just put one through my head please.

Several sources I've read are reporting Wednesday is the day for Hall to be released. Good luck to whoever picks him up. The guy is a cancer in the locker room. Thankfully Atlanta got a 2nd round for him and put the pick to good use.

Somebody will sign this bum. Damn shame too that somebody will actually waste $$$ on this man.

As much as I hate to use the term "overrated", I don't think I've ever seen a player more "overrated" than him. I could be wrong though.

From what I have heard is they offered Aso a contract that would've made him the highest paid corner in the league, he wouldn't sign it. Understandably, he has reservations about committing to 5 or more years to the mess in Oakland.

Hall is terrible. I myself looked at his resume, and thought, wow, pro bowl corner, great coverage man, the Raiders will have the best corner tandem in the league.

Then I actually saw him play.

HALL THE FIRST STEP OF A SILVER AND BLACK PURGE?

Posted by Mike Florio on November 4, 2008, 8:46 p.m.
In the wake of the news that the Raiders soon will release cornerback DeAngelo Hall, a league source tells us that as many as 15 other current members of the team could be gone before next year.
The source believes that the purge will include receiver Javon Walker and defensive tackle Tommy Kelly.
As to Hall, we’re told that the reasons given for the move include a desire to devote the money that Hall would receive over the next year ($16.5 million) to inking cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha to a long-term deal, and to sign other players.
Also, don’t be shocked if someone makes a waivers claim on Hall. We’re told that interested teams include the Patriots, Texans, Giants, Redskins, Rams, and Saints. Several teams have the money to pay Hall — and getting him for $16 million in guaranteed money could be regarded as a bargain.

Call me crazy, but if they release Hall and Walker, that could actually be a positive sign.

Al Davis has seldom if ever been willing to admit he made a mistake in personnel decisions, and players wind up being "on scholarship" and stick with the team, despite not performing.

At this point I am grasping at straws for anything positive..........
