Was any of that to the credit of Favre though? He certainly had an impact in terms of singlehandedly bringing down the Jets' playoff hopes. It seemed like the running game/defense carried that team, besides Favre.

I don't think there's any doubt they're in the playoffs with Chad Pennington.

Certainly he does. I don't think it's a coincidence.

I also don't see how you can draw the conclusion there's no doubt they are in the playoffs with Pennington.

I know people have a hard on to make Favre the target, and a lot of it is deserved, but there's a real loss of objectivity on this subject.

You're right. His 2 TD/9 INT ratio during the final five games tanked the Jets' playoff chances.

bk, the owner spent 150 mil in the off-season (I believe this included Fare's salary after the trade)

All those moves were made in order to win now. Trading for Favre was the icing on that win now cake.

Bringing in Jenkins, Pace, Faneca. They also brought in another OL man who's name escapes me right now & what did they get. 7 Pro-Bowlers & a kick in da you know what by the guy they tossed to side to make way for Farve. I'm sorry but the Jets went about the whole Pennington thing the wrong way & wouldn't ya know-it KARMA came back & bit them in da ***

I mean c'mon, how do you not trade Pennington & @ least get something back. Not only do you not trade him, you allow him to go to a division rival. I'm sorry but the Jets got what they deserved this season...

Again, 4-12 to 9-7. To say he wasn't part of that turn around makes no sense.

Yeah I got it. But were any of those moves more impactful than bringing in Favre? They made a 5 game turnaround in one year, and missed the playoffs by one game. It wasn't quite the failure some people with an obvious agenda seem to want to make it out to be.

Re: Bye Bye Brett

What other moves did they make that were more impactful than Favre?

Well, let's start with the re-tooling of their offensive line which was part of the reason they struggled so much in 07-08. Faneca and Woody were key. Defensively, how about calvin Pace and Kris Jenkins? The Jets re-tooled their problems before Favre came to town. The re-tooling was built for Chad or Clemens, not for Favre.

It only feels like such a failure because of the epic late season collapse...
