Broncos linebacker Jarvis Moss apparently has been spending some time with Brett Favre.

Because Moss is contemplating retirement.

The difference, however, is that Moss is only 24 years old.

According to FOX 31 in Denver, Moss has advised the team that he might call it quits.

FOX 31 also reports that Moss wasn't at practice on Saturday, and that G.M. Brian Xanders declined to comment on the situation.

Moss participated in two Friday practices, and he expressed optimism about the future.

"It's a brand new start for me," Moss said. "I'm going to continue to work hard, pray, and everything will take care of itself."

Moss reportedly is struggling to adapt to his role in the team's new 3-4 defense, which resulted in a shift from defensive end to outside linebacker.

Alex Marvex of FOX reported in April that the Broncos were shopping Moss for a seventh-round draft pick. He thereafter was buried on the depth chart during offseason workouts.

Our first thought regarding the situation was that, if Moss retires, he might owe back a chunk of the five-year, $15 million contract he signed as the 17th overall pick in the 2007 draft. But it's entirely possible that he didn't receive a signing bonus as part of his rookie deal, which would insulate him from having to refund any of the money he has received.

That's unfortunate. He hasn't really adapted to the NFL, or either just needs to be used as a DE instead of an OLB.

Wonder what his plan is for possibly passing up the NFL?

Go back to college and get your degree?

This has nothing to do with his lack of playing time in Denver.

He has told the Broncos he will be back today.

The guys got no heart.....NONE and is a perfect example of a kid who is basically just in it for the money and when faced with a bit of adversity, wants to just pack it in or throw a tantrum.

He's a poor fit in this defense, like many of Shanahan's guys are. They are too small to be 3-4 linemen. As someone else said, just seek a trade, or better yet, work your damn *** off, prove to them you can be the player you were drafted to be, and shut up.

I will agree about showing a lack of heart.

But again, he wasn't throwing a tantrum, or complaining because of where he was on the depth chart. It's not about wanting to be somewhere else.

He doesn't think he is more talented than what his depth chart position shows.

He was having a tough time with what a failure he has been. He accepts where he is at and how he has to work his way up.

His lack of heart and persistency it what was making him consider retirement.

I can only go off of what I have heard and read, and what they have said on Sirius NFL Radio was more in line with what I said. You might be right though, especially if you are a fan of him or the team.
