I doubt anyone thinking of driving drunk and putting the public at risk would be deterred from doing so by a 30-day jail sentence and some chump change out of their ample pocket. Goodell's actions, however, represent an actual deterrent. Good for him for succeeding where our legal system failed.
They didnt need time or money for this to drag out. They werent spending money yet. They could have done what most people do and waited for the criminal case to be heard before even talking to Stallworth about a civil settlement. If they waited they could have received a bigger settlement. They decided to accept a settlement probably because it was a lot of money and they were satisfied with the amount offered. Also Stallworth isnt as rich as people think. He's had one big contract so it wasnt chump change.

Running a gambling ring and viciously killing animals should be too, but I guess when you are Mike Vick the rules are different. Like Vick, Stallworth served his time and should receive no more punishment from the league than Vick.

His sentencing was more encompassing than 30 days in jail. Thanks for playing though.

Also, there is a precedent for this. Leonard Little got 4 games for a similar action. I could understand 6-8 games but a year is overkill imo. But nothing will be done. They suspended Pacman for a year when he was never actually convicted for anything so I shouldnt be surprised.
LOL "A mistake"... you're a pretty smart guy aholbert, but this by NO WAY is a mistake.

A mistake would be like oops, I forgot to move enough money from savings into checking, and getting your card declined at the grocery store; which just happened to me the other day.

NO...This is a tragedy. Mistakes don't occur when people LOSE THEIR LIVES!

Leonard Little's crap set a POOR PRECEDENT... that kill someone, and you can still play football. Matter of fact, get another DUI, after having killed someone while driving intoxicated, and have little to no consequences from the NFL.

That says dude never learned his lesson, did but didn't care, all the above, and/or is just an irresponsible idiot w/ no chance of learning ANY lesson.

No one learned anything from Leonard Little, and thus another tragedy occurs. Perhaps something will bellow into the heads of NFL players that this LACK of responsibility will NOT be tolerated...ESPECIALLY when a family is WITHOUT a father.

I have long since advocated that people who kill others driving drunk should be mass graved up in Montana. Losing your livelihood for killing a person is lenient.

Little should have long since been banned from the league. Killing people and continuing to engage in that action is despicable. He is a true menace to society.

Disagree. Most people would have a tough time getting a job at all with that on their record. My company policy is that no one with prison time works here. Period.

It is no one's right to be an NFL player.

It's not a popular opinion, it seems, and I'm sure PETA will track down my IP and find me but...

Human life > Animal life, therefore killing a human while driving drunk should be more severe than killing dogs, albeit viciously. Now when you add in the whole gambling thing, alright...but comparing killing a human while driving drunk to killing dogs is funny, to me.
