Its not like they didnt have a selection from other decades, but I dont seem to ever remember this. Anyone remember if they were, and if so, what were the rare occassions they would do it for? It's so incredibly overdone nowadays that Im just curious where the trend got started.

1994 was the year it really started. I think a team or two might've done something a little earlier but it was so far and few between it escapes recollection. 1994 was the NFL's 75th Anniversary and every team wore throwbacks at least once. 1994 was a pivotal year for another reason as it paved the way for new designs to come to pass as 1995 saw a crop of teams changing their looks drastically and we all know how that has evolved.
