My question is, how did the Lions organization ever dupe the good people of Detriot into building a brand new facility for one of the most abysmal teams in all of the league's history?

Memories there... Kelly Tripucka playing on the portable Pistons floor and wondering what was behind the curtain pulled across the dome floor (nothing, it was just a barrier).



I was there when Barry went over 2000 yards and when Mike Utley went down and we waited for what seemed like a day to see if he was going to move (the thumbs up).



And of course, there was the memory of my buddy getting taken to jail after trying to steal a seat from the dome after the final Lions game (he got it unscrewed). Rumors are many people did make it out with one.

It's an awesome place (almost as nice as neighbor Comerica stadium). I haven't been there for the Lions, but I go every year for the high school finals and I love it. I just wish it wasn't another 1/2 hour south of the Silverdome, considering I am up north.

Plus, the two stadiums helped clean up that area and bring some new business. I was at the Fox theatre for an Alice Cooper concert a few years before the two stadiums were built and it was pretty scary. All the buildings were boarded up, people pushing shopping carts everywhere (and not a store to be found), and people just hanging out on the street corners doing nothing- never a good sign.

Now if they could do something about the other side of I-75 by the Art Institute and Wayne State. That is the new scary spot, but at least I know where to find some scary hookers. Yeesh..
