The Miami Dolphins' season took a nasty turn in the second half against the Saints Sunday.

First, they lost a 24-3 lead (24-10 at halftime) against the undefeated Saints. Now, the Dolphins learned that cornerback Will Allen will miss the rest of the 2009 season with a torn ACL.

It's a brutal loss for a secondary that has been inconsistent. Allen is Miami's most experienced cornerback and still its best. Rookie cornerback Vontae Davis will now jump into the starting lineup to pair with fellow rookie Sean Smith.

Allen signed a big two-year contract extension last offseason. His $5.2 million base salary in 2010 is guaranteed.

Vontae and Smith have both seen time on the outside. This will hurt our secondary, but we've got decent enough depth to survive.

we about to see what the davis-smith tandem can do i expect them to be like a woodson,harris combo and i expect to see them in a dolphin uniform for at least 6 years starting hopefully.

Your hopes are to high for 2 rookies. But this will be a great learning experience for them.
