The actual schedules for all NFL teams won't be unveiled until early April. All that's given out now are confirmed lists of opponents every NFL team will play.

Is there any team with a tougher schedule in 2010?
Dude, that's freaking three years in a row the Cowboys will have to travel to Lambeau. What's up with that? It's not like the Cowboys are in their division so it has nothing to do with that. As a matter of fact, I have no problem with them playing four straight years (they played in Irving in 2007) but I would have at least expected some alternating between Irving/Arlington and Green Bay.

I'm pretty sure matchups and locations are decided by the finish in the standings.

I'm not sure of the formula, but they have a system where the matchups/locations are not randomly decided.

I'm well aware of this. Good teams generally are supposed to get the harder schedules and the bad teams are supposed to get easier schedules. The NFL has tried to do this for years. That's why every year you'll see all these playoff rematches of the previous season and why a playoff team from the year before will play every playoff team from their respective conference from the year before. I get all that. But there had to be some dude in the room when the schedule makers got together that raised his pencil and said "Uh guys . . . Dallas traveling to Green Bay again? How about those two meeting in the new stadium?"

I know they have systems that determine who plays whom, but the fact that its happening in Green Bay again is just a bit odd to me.

Re: NFL 2010 Schedule is out

This is how the schedule works. Everyone may already know this, but based on some posts I don't think some are well aware of it.

Each team plays the teams in their division twice, one home and one away game. That's a total of 6 games.

Each team in a division will play four teams in another division within their conference. This is on a rotating schedule every 3 years. That's another 4 games.

Each team in a division will play four teams in a division that is in the other conference. This is on a 4-year rotating schedule. That's another 4 games.

The final 2 games are based on the previous year's standings. These games will match a first-place team against the first-place teams in the two same-conference divisions the team is not scheduled to play that season. The second place, third place, and fourth place teams in a conference will be matched in the same way. So 1st against 1st, 2nd against 2nd, and so on, against the two divisions, within their conference, the team is not playing that year.

There you have it.
